MVV signs 4-year solar PPA with Deutsche Bahn

(Montel) German energy supplier MVV has signed a four-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB Energie, the former said on Thursday.

The Mannheim-based company will supply DB Energie with electricity from three new solar parks with a total capacity of 36.5 MW from 1 January, it said.

According to MVV, the annual electricity volume will amount to 40 GWh.

In addition to the electricity, DB Energie will also receive the guarantees of origin produced by the solar parks.

A five-year PPA for solar power for 2024 in Germany was recently valued at EUR 96.80/MWh, according to data provider Qwatt, while a three-year one was valued at EUR 105.01/MWh.

It did not have any information for four-year agreements.
