CIP builds 500 MW battery in Scotland

(Montel) Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has made a final investment decision for a battery energy storage project in Scotland that will be one of Europe's largest, with a capacity of 500 MW.

Construction of the Coalburn 1 battery had already started late last month, the Danish investment fund said on Tuesday.

The facility is the first project to be developed from a partnership between CIP and Alcemi to deploy 4 GW of energy storage assets across the UK. CIP said it aimed to take a final investment decision on two other projects next year with a combined capacity above 1 GW.
