Repsol to sell 1.4bcm LNG to Centrica in 2025-27

(Montel) Centrica Energy will purchase 1.4bcm (1m tonnes) of LNG from Spain’s Repsol in 2025-2027 for delivery at the UK’s Grain terminal, the Denmark-based trading arm of the UK utility said on Wednesday.

The deal would “improve the UK’s energy security in the coming years”, Centrica said in a statement.

“Natural gas is an essential transition fuel in the move to net zero and securing international agreements such as this will be vital if the UK is to reach its ambitious goals,” said Chris O’Shea, Centrica Group CEO.

The UK imported around 20bcm of LNG last year, down from a record 26bcm in the previous year but still well above 2021’s 15bcm, Kpler data showed.
